Here’s to the explorers, who left the comfort of home.
Here’s to the adventure seekers, who go forth into the unknown. Here’s to the creatives, who see the world in colour.
Here’s to the musicians, who tour the world twice over. Here’s to all the nomads, in search of a better life.
Here’s to all the wanderers, who go forth into the night. Here’s to all the dreamers, who sleep amongst the stars.
Here’s to all the thrill seekers, who dream of speeding cars. Here’s to all the loved ones, we have to leave behind.
Here’s to the World, and may she be mine.
I haven’t done any form of creative writing since I was 15 years old, however I saw a video about travelling and the first line was “Here’s to the explorers, who left the comfort of home” …which inspired me to write this.
I’ve been told time and time again, especially recently ‘Oh your SO Brave!’ – for leaving home, for not having a job to go to, for not having a house to go to, for not having much of a plan, for packing up and moving to the other side of the world.
It’s not brave, its fucking exciting and terrifying.
So many people have dreams of exploring the world, and so little get chance to do it. Or if they do get the chance, its rare they take it. Because of family, because of jobs, because of circumstance….or, for the fear of the unknown. I haven’t explored anything close to what I want to, but I see my time in Australia as a chance to do that – a better opportunity to earn money for a nicer lifestyle, to fund more travelling, to see that side of the world that isn’t as easy to access from the UK…The world is too big to just see one place.
I’ve always wanted to travel, to explore.
I may face many obstacles along the way, but fear is not one of them.
Does this make me brave? I’m not sure.
What I do know is this: I’m a dreamer, a chance taker, an opportunist….curious.
Blessed are the curious for they will have adventures
So THANK YOU to all who call me brave and for putting up with my crazy lifestyle, and for visiting me in towns you’ve never heard of. Just know that I’m not brave.
I never had dreams growing up of becoming a parent (or a wife particularly) and finding all of life’s little things exciting – it was never for me. So, I just can’t sit still and live a life that’s not full of adventure in some other way, and this is what makes me excited about life.
