This last week I’ve been quiet because I have been busy on our adventure, exploring parts of the UK! So, here is our awesome UK trip.
Saturday (28th May) me and Rach headed up to Leeds to go to Slam Dunk Festival, it was a fun day and we got to watch the Amitty Affliction, Yellowcard, Mallory Knox, New Found Glory & Panic! at the Disco. Great music, then a lovely hotel stay at the Corn Mill Lodge Hotel (I recommend!) only ten mins away from the festival!
Sunday we headed up to Newcastle to stay in Hotel Express which was 5-10 minutes from the Metro Centre and the City Centre so it was quite a handy location. We went and did a bit of shopping and went for dinner at Mantra Thai Dining – it is hands down the best Thai food I’ve had since visiting Thailand itself! Beautiful food, we had the sharing platter to start, duck curry and massaman curry to share with a side of sticky rice. Incredible!
Monday we went to the Life Science Centre in Newcastle to visit the Body Worlds: Animals Inside Out exhibition which was fascinating!! We then went to visit the Angel of the North and had an ice cream over looking views. It was a great day.
Tuesday we headed to Watford for the evening and stayed in the Premier Inn which I always find have the comfiest budget beds. We got there later than planned due to bad traffic, so once we were all ready we headed into Soho in London to the Soho Theatre as a surprise for Rachael’s birthday and went to watch comedienne Mae Martin. She was hilarious!! If you’ve never watched any of her material I suggest you check her out. She doesn’t a great piece about gender stereotypes and I think it will make waves!
Thursday we headed back into London to visit the famous Choccywoccydodah for afternoon tea and between the five of us we decided on the sharing platter. Wow…the cakes were slabs and tasted amazing. However too much cake made us all stuffed for the rest of the day because when it comes to cake I don’t know how to stop…
After this we headed back up to Watford and went to visit the Warner Brothers Studio Tour of Harry Potter! Oh it was brilliant. Seeing the sets, the uniforms, the scale drawings, the design that went into everything, getting to go on the train and the broom and taste the butter beer…it was a great experience! I’d recommend it to any Harry Potter fan, or to anyone with a love of media. It really does show the talent that went on behind the scenes!
After this we headed back up north for birthday celebrations with Rachael’s family for a day!
Friday we went to Liverpool and visited The Clubhouse for a lovely dinner and went for drinks in Bierkeller. Liverpool is one of my favourite cities in the world. Great food, great people, fantastic nightlife – there really is something for everyone in terms of music taste, clubs or bars, loud or quiet.. it’s one of the few cities you could go to with a large crowd and everyone would find something they loved! If your ever heading to Liverpool and would like recommendations, get in touch – I have loads!!
So that was our trip! We had lots of fun and we are truly knackered now, but it was well worth it. We are doing another UK Trip to Cornwall and other places over the summer so keep a look out!!
